Are my seed words the same as my password?

Modified on Fri, 2 Oct at 2:21 PM

No. Your password gives you account login access. Your seed words recover your wallet. Resetting your login password does not replace or recover your seed words.

Knowing your account password does not mean you can recreate the wallet after losing its recovery information. The seed words belong to the wallet itself and must match that wallet.

Before changing devices, reinstalling the app or following a recovery procedure, confirm that you have the correct recovery list. If you have multiple lists, use the official verification instructions. A password reset can help you log in, but it cannot turn an unrelated list of words into the recovery phrase for your existing wallet.
