What is the difference between my password, passcode, and seed phrase?

Modified on Thu, 19 Mar at 1:33 PM

Understanding the difference between these three is critical to keeping your Prosper Wallet secure and accessible. Each one serves a completely different purpose, and confusing them can lead to serious issues, including permanent loss of access.

Login Password, Access to Your Wallet

Your login password is used to sign in to your wallet at
app.prosperwallet.io.

  • This gives you access to the wallet interface

  • It does not authorize transactions

  • It can be reset using the “Forgot Password” option

Think of your password as the key to open the door, it lets you in, but it does not give permission to move funds.

Passcode, Approving Actions Inside Your Wallet

Your passcode is a second layer of security used داخل your wallet.

  • Required to approve transactions, transfers, or sensitive actions

  • Acts as an internal authorization step

  • Can be reset within the wallet interface if needed

This is similar to confirming a purchase or action, even after you are already logged in.

Seed Phrase, Your Master Key

Your seed phrase, also called a 12 word recovery phrase, is the most important part of your wallet.

  • It is the only way to fully recover your wallet

  • It cannot be reset, changed, or recovered by support

  • It provides complete access to your wallet and all assets

WARNING:
If your seed phrase is lost, your wallet and assets are permanently unrecoverable. There is no customer support process that can restore it.

Best Practices for Security

  • Keep your password and passcode private and unique

  • Write your seed phrase down and store it offline in a secure location

  • Never store your seed phrase digitally or share it with anyone

  • Treat your seed phrase as the single most sensitive piece of information

Important Reminder

Your password and passcode help you access and use your wallet.
Your seed phrase is what owns your wallet.

Losing your password or passcode can be fixed.
Losing your seed phrase cannot.
